Point Guards In The Playoffs

Now I don't know if anyone has notice the quality of play of point guards so far in this year playoffs. As always Steve Nash does his part in post-season play but first timers such as Brandon Jennings and Russell Westbrook has also been doing outstanding in the playoffs. There has also been some Point Guards such as Deron Williams, George Hill and Jameer Nelson that have enhanced their play due to the playoffs.

First Lets talk about Westbrook. To me Westbrook is the best Point Guard in this year playoffs. Now some might say Deron Williams but if you watch Westbrook play you see why he is I think he is the best. Westbrook averaged 20.5 PPG to go along with 6.0 RPG and 6.0 APG. Although Westbrook and the Thunder lost to the Lakers in the first round the future looks bright for Westbrook, Durant, and the city of Oklahoma.

Now Deron Williams, some consider him the best PG in the league after his display in the first round of the playoffs. Everyone thought the Jazz wasn't going to make it out the first round due to injuries of Memit Okur and Andre Kirlenko (including me) but D-Will made it possible by averaging 25.3 PPG and 11.3 APG. Pretty impressive I must admit averaging a double-double in this series with former finals MVP Chauncey Billups guarding you. But hats off to D-Will because he lead his team to the second round despite the injuries on his team.

Next is Jameer Nelson. Jameer Nelson is a part of the defending eastern conference champion Orlando Magic. Some considered Nelson the reason why the Magic fell in the Finals to the Lakers last season. This time around Nelson is making sure this is no misunderstanding. Jameer Nelson averages 22.3 PPG in the playoffs so far. He is one of the reasons why the Magic is undefeated so far in the playoffs/ The way Nelson and the Magic is playing makes every team in the east worried about the Magic.

Other PGs such as Brandon Jennings and George Hill has really impressed me. Brandon Jennings is the only rookie starter is this year playoffs. After the Bucks lost star Center Andrew Bogut to a Nasty injury all heads turn to Jennings to lead the young Bucks in to the playoffs. Jennings averaged a 18.7 PPG in his debut series. Jennings and the Bucks forced the Hawks to 7 games but lost. George Hill is another player that caught my attention during the post-season. Hill started for Tony Parker who was just coming back from a broken hand. Everyone suspected the Spurs to lose in the first round saying things like "Their to old." I think George Hill was a key player for the Spurs in that series. He played well averaging 14.3 PPG

Well the second round of the playoffs is well underway so we shall see what will happen through the rest of the post season. Don't forget to follow me @Zoohood23 Till' Next Time......
